Pant’s record-breaking innings: Rishabh became the first Asian keeper to score the first century in Africa, also broke Dhoni’s record

Rishabh Pant was named on the third day of the third Test between India and South Africa being played in Cape Town. Pant played an unbeaten innings of 100 runs while batting brilliantly. First Asian wicketkeeper to score a century in SA
This is the fourth century of Pant’s Test career. At the same time, he scored the first century against Africa and the third century in SENA countries. Along with this, Rishabh has also become the first Asian wicket-keeper batsman to score a century in South Africa.

Dhoni’s record was also broken
24-year-old Rishabh Pant also became the Indian wicketkeeper to have played the biggest innings in South Africa. Prior to Pant, former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had scored 90 runs in the Centurion Test during the 2010-11 tour of Africa. Apart from him, Deep Dasgupta had scored 63 runs in Port Elizabeth in 2001.

3 centuries in SENA countries
Rishabh Pant has scored 3 centuries in SENA countries. Apart from South Africa, he has also scored centuries in England and Australia. Pant is the only wicket-keeper batsman from India to have scored a century in these three countries. Pant scored 114 against England in 2018 at The Oval, while in the 2019 Sydney Test, he scored an unbeaten 159 against AUS.

Indian keeper’s sixth century outside Asia
This was the sixth Test century by Team India outside Asia. The first Test for India outside Asia was played by Viyaj Manjrekar as a wicket-keeper in 1952/53 against the West Indies at Kingston. He had played an innings of 118 runs till now. After this, Ajay Ratra scored an unbeaten 115 against West Indies in St. Jones in 2002. The third century was also seen against West Indies itself. Wriddhiman Saha had scored 104 runs at the ground of Gross Islet in 2016.

After this, the three centuries that were seen, all were hit by Rishabh Pant. First he scored 114 runs in his debut Test series against England at The Oval. Then in 2019, he played a powerful innings of 159 runs against Australia. Now even after the century in Cape Town, Pant’s name has been registered in this list.
