Lakshya Sen, who won the bronze medal in the World Championship, has once again made a splendid performance to make it to the final of the India Open. Lakshya Sen defeated Malaysia’s Ng Tje Yong in the semi-finals played on Saturday. Lakshya defeated the Malaysian 19-21, 21-16, 21-12 in a thrilling encounter.
Third seed Lakshya Sen will face Singapore’s world champion Loh Keen Yew in the final on Sunday. Loh was given a walkover after Canada’s Brian Yang pulled out of the semi-finals after suffering a sore throat and headache. Loh and Sen have played against each other in the final of the Dutch Open in 2021 last year.
Strong comeback after losing the first set
In the semi-finals, Ng Tje Yong won the first set 19-21, but then Lakshya Sen came back strongly to win the second set 21-16 and the last set 21-12 and all of a comeback for Tje Yong. Roads closed.
Earlier, in the quarterfinals, Lakshya had defeated his own country’s HS Prannoy 14-21, 21-9, 21-14 in a tough contest. This match between the two lasted for an hour.
