New Delhi: Swinging into action, the Indian Railways has issued helpline numbers 03612731622 and 03612731623 to answer queries from the passengers after the Guwahati-Bikaner Express 15633 derailed in Domohani area of West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district earlier this evening.
The Indian Railways has also ordered a high-level railway safety inquiry into the untoward incident as at least three passengers are feared dead and several others injured post the derailment.
The derainment as per initial reports took place at around 5 pm.
The Indian Railways said that 12 coaches have been affected, adding the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and the Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) rushed to the site along with the accident relief train and medical van.
According to sources, around 10 to 12 people have been admitted to the local hospitals post the incident. Nearly 30 ambulances have been deployed at the accident site.
The rescue train has been rushed to the accident site and is likely to reach in the next 30 to 45 minutes. The rescue train has equipment that helps in cutting apart train bogies to bring out the passengers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and inquired about the accident.
